Just a short drive up highway 58 you will find the small town of Oakridge. Surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery, Oakridge was once called “That Jewel of a City in the Mountains” - a description that fits this wonderful community.
Located along the middle fork of the Willamette River in the foothills of the Cascades, Oakridge is just above the fog line and just below the snow line. The starting point for many great adventures, her specialty shops and restaurants are a planned stop or a welcome sight to tourist, fisherman, hikers, campers, bikers, golfers, and winter sports enthusiasts.
The Surrounding wilderness is vast, offering lakes, waterfalls, old growth forests, natural trails, and wild life. A historical columnist once called Oakridge the "Shangri-La of the Cascades." Oakridge has a history rooted in timber, railroad, and the historic Oregon Trail.
With a population of 3145, Oakridge supports a K-12 school system serving about 800 students and is also served by an outreach program sponsored by Lane Community College.
If the great outdoors calls your name and you love the thought of living in a jewel of a city in the mountains, take that short drive up Highway 58, and visit Oakridge.
