Just 8 miles west of interstate 5, you will come upon the city of Drain.
A city rich in state history and home to Jesse Applegate one of Oregon's favorite pioneer
sons. Drains preservation of her historical Victorian homes, covered bridge, and a castle
add to the beauty and mystic of this lovely rural community.
Drains scenic highways and byways give way to State highway 38, Which is a major
access to Oregon's coast.
An annual all school picnic celebrates Drain's historical school system which dates back
to 1861. At present Douglas school district serves around 500 students grades k-12. The
Castle, one of Drain's historical homes houses this school districts offices.
Other annual events include a county fair and parade, city wide garage sale, and a craft
and gift sale. These annual events provide many attractions for tourists.
